Ciao describes itself as the 'largest online survey respondent provider in the industry' enabling companies to conduct online surveys quickly and cost effectively. Unlike YouGov, Ciao surveys offer a far wider breadth of topics for participants to cast their opinions on - from surveys specifically geared towards an individuals consumption of healthcare products, to seeking out the success of ongoing and future advertising campaigns. Unlike YouGov, surveys appear far more targetted towards certain and very specific audiences, and by filling in your extensive profile you will increase the range of questionnaires recieved.

Advantages

Unlike YouGov, Ciao surveys come almost everyday. On an average day I often recieve around 3 surveys in my inbox, thus increasing the chance to participate and build up my cash balance. Within the past two months of membership I have not recieved two surveys that have been the same or similar, testament to the variety of questionnaires offered by Ciao. Further to this Ciao will allow payments to be requested from as little as £5 - a sum that can realistically be achieved within a month with a moderate to strong level of requested surveys completed. Most surveys take on average 10-20 minutes to complete.

Disadavantages

The disadvantages of Ciao surveys come in that often participants are encouraged to participate in surveys for as little as 10p - hardly a sum worth contributing 20 minutes of time for. Yet there are no punishments, or drops in the number of surveys offered if you skip over these low earners. If Ciao is really to work for you then I'd recommend participating only in surveys that accredit 50p to £2. Such surveys tend to arrive in my inbox around twice a week. Furthermore Ciao can be frustrating at times - in spite of surveys sent out with the intention of specifically targetting the recipient, often filling in some simple data at the start of a survey (such as age and location) will result in you being declared ineligible to participate. When this starts to happen regularly, Ciao can become disheartening.

Evaluation

I would definitely recommend Ciao, provided individuals limit themselves to participation only in those surveys for 50p-£2. If you stick to this course, and don't become disheartened by disqualifications, it is quite possible to amass £5 worth of credit to ship over to your bank account per month. When compared with YouGov - where you may wait in excess of a year for a payment, Ciao stands out.
