A few years ago, whilst searching for a summer bar job, I stumbled across a section of the popular social-networking site 'Facebook' that I had previously been unaware of. The section, titled 'MarketPlace' had a raft of jobs, some seemingly too good to be true, others for part-time babysitters, the bar job I had been looking for, but others promising cash sums without ever having to leave your computer. Many of these advertisements appeared to be placed by individuals whose profile pictures appeared to show them as scantily-clad, and exceptionally attractive women. With promises of making '$200-$1000 Per Day!' it seemed like my new career path had been chosen - I mean even a string of poor days at 'work' with a $200 return could leave me with an annual income of $62, 400.
Unfortunately the adverisements placed by 'Victoria' and 'Chantelle' did not lead me to the promised land of easy, quick, plentiful amounts of cash. The website links included made me wonder if even they were earning $200 a day. Yet one advertisement did catch my eye - an advert placed for YouGov. It did not promise outlandish figures, but rather the promise of small cash rewards in exchange for individuals taking a few minutes out of their day to give their opinions and provide a few answers to a variety of simple questions. The first myth about making easy money online was shattered; you cannot make a living just sat at your computer.
Yet my intention upon signing up to YouGov, or to other subsequent websites was not to replace my existing job with an eternity of endless online surveys but rather to earn a few payments here and there to put back into my savings, or to spend relaxing with my friends at the weekend. If these are your intentions too then welcome aboard.
This blog will offer you a wide range of options and opportunites to make money online by participating in third-party projects, with honest, genuine reviews from myself. In time I hope to build an archive of potential money-spinners for you to sift through and to put a bit of extra cash in your pocket. Afterall, what could be more important in times like these?
So I start where it all began, with YouGov...
